OUR MISSION

Every dolphin has a story worth telling.

Every day, life unfolds beneath the waters of the Texas Gulf Coast. Stories of survival, intelligence, family, and connection are taking place all around us, often without our awareness. These are not simply moments in nature. They are glimpses into the lives of remarkable animals with relationships, behaviors, and stories of their own.

Dockside Flippers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Meghan Bergaila-Cornwell in Port O’Connor, Texas, dedicated to the long-term observation, filming, and storytelling of wild bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat. By returning to the same location over time, we have the unique opportunity to recognize individual dolphins, follow their lives, document their behaviors, and witness the relationships that connect them.

Our mission is to inspire curiosity, cultivate appreciation, and build a lasting connection between people and the natural world through observation, film, education, and storytelling. We believe that sharing the lives of these dolphins as they naturally unfold can change the way people see them, transforming a passing encounter into a deeper understanding of the animals with whom we share our world.

When we begin to recognize the individuality of wildlife, understand the complexity of their lives, and appreciate the world they inhabit, protecting them becomes more than an environmental responsibility. It becomes something personal.

At Dockside Flippers, we believe that meaningful change begins with understanding, and understanding begins when we take the time to truly observe.

For Meghan Bergaila-Cornwell, the camera is more than a tool for capturing what happens in front of her. It is a means of artistic expression, where perspective, timing, composition, and emotion come together to reveal something far greater than the moment itself.

With an instinct for visual storytelling, Meghan Bergaila-Cornwell approaches each film as a creative canvas. The movement of the water, the rhythm of a dolphin's behavior, the interplay of light and shadow, and the subtle beauty of an unexpected encounter all become elements of a story brought to life through her artistic interpretation.

Through cinematography, music, and intentional editing, she creates immersive experiences that invite audiences to feel the anticipation, wonder, and emotion of each scene.

Her vision is not to simply show audiences what she sees, but to allow them to experience what she feels when witnessing it.
